Thank you so much for accompanying me in my filmmaking process. I really hope you enjoy Oblivious.

Special thanks to those who helped me in the production process:

Marisa Velasco for following my directions when shooting the part of the film in which I was acting and my actors, Sara Gonzalez, Oscar Gonzalez, Navya Garimella, Catalina Castro, Angela Mujica, Stephanie Tamayo and Shivani Dalta who acted very professionally during shooting session.

OBLIVIOUS

I have officially finished my entire project!

I finally decided to name my film Oblivious as both the government and society are oblivious to the crime presented on my film.

I am really proud of the outcome of both, my creative reflection and my film opening.

I can not express in words how much I learned from completing this assignment, and I do not know whether to feel happy or sad about its completion.

I am really going to miss writing on this blog, and the family discussions about Oblivious.

So now let the count down begin...

THE BEST TOOL

Hey!

I have officially finished my film opening, and I just can not express how excited I am to share it with you. I definitely learned so much from doing this project, ranging from editing to copyright infringements.

I am about to start my creative reflection, in which I will discuss the following key points:

  • How my project challenges conventions, and how it represents social groups or issues.
  • How it engages with audiences, and how would it be distributed as a real media text.
  • How my production skills developed throughout this project.
  • How I integrated technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project.

I looked up the best method to convey this information,  and keep you engaged.

I found a great website called Screencast Matic that will allow me to create a screencast.

I love this method of conveying information as I can combine visual and audio techniques that will make my reflection more engaging. Furthermore, I can show a presentation/slideshow at the same time as recording and videotaping myself saying the information. Therefore, when watching my creative reflection, you will be able to see a slideshow and images that I will have on my computer's screen and most importantly, ME!(YAYY!)

I have attached a practice screencast in which I was learning how to use this method of communicating information.

MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC

I swear if I hear the words Royalty-free or Non-Copyright again I will explode.

I had never realized how difficult it is to determine if a song has any Copyright infringements. I had already selected a song that I had liked by Logic called "Are You Ready"; however, I discovered that it was Copyrighted.

Suzanne Vega's song, "Tom's Diner", also fit my film opening perfectly, however, I was never able to get in touch with Warner Chappell, who also owns the song.

Therefore, today I spent about 3 hours trying to find a non-copyrighted song that would fit my film opening perfectly. I fortunately found a winner, "Distortion & Electro-Light-You And Me (feat. Ke'nekt) [NCS Release]".

I found this non-copyrighted song on the this website called NocopyrightSounds.

The information on the website establishes that their non-copyrighted songs can be freely used by Youtube and Twitch users with no limitations as long as the following information is described within the video:
1. Include the full title of the track. (Stating the music was provided by NCS)
2. Include a link to the track on NoCopyrightSounds YouTube.3. 3.Credit the artist(s) of the track by including their social network links.

I have attached images describing
NocopyrightSound's conditions to use its songs.

MIL GRACIAS!

As I am watching my film opening for the 200th time, I can not express how proud I am of the outcome. I absolutely love my film, and I am so thankful to those who helped me in the process.

My mom supported me during the entire process. She was my minion who held the camera as I was acting, not complaining about my adamant directions. She was the wonderful commentator's voice at the beginning of the film, practicing her intonation before recording. Her optimism helped me have  a positive outlook towards the entire project.

My little sister, "THE STAR", as I now call her, was such a great sport.  She really got into the role, even acted like a movie star, and finally shined.

My grandmother was also my moral support. She viewed the film with me at least 100 times, always with a smile on her face.

My dad, the opposite of a scary drug dealer, did such an amazing job! He got into the role, tried on the different attires I gave him until I found one I liked, never complained, and instead of shining, scared me to death.

My friends, the "extras", practiced the steps and danced the choreography at least 10 times. They were always smiling, never complained, and tried their best, making of a project's shooting, a wonderful gathering. I especially want to thank my friend Andrea for allowing me to film and use the dancing at her disco birthday party on my video.

Suzanne Vega, the songwriter of the song, "Tom's Diner", was so supportive. She answered my message promptly and directed me to the Company who also owns the song's contact information. I am just waiting to hear back from the Company, Warner Chappell, with my fingers crossed, hoping they will allow me to use this wonderful song.

My film-opening is ready, the music is the only aspect pending. I have already started to look up other non-copyrighted songs in case I am not allowed to use Suzanne Vega's song.

I just can not believe that this project is coming to an end. I have learned so much from it, and I can not wait to share with you my key reflections through my Creative Reflection.

FOR THE WORLD TO UNDERSTAND

Hola, Hello!

Today I added the English subtitles to my movie.
I was afraid that the subtitles would go too fast, making the film difficult to follow. However, it appears that the subtitles can be read easily.

On Monday I will ask my friends who only speak English to view the film to see if they are able to watch the movie at the same time as reading the subtitles.

It is important to ask people who do not speak Spanish to view the film because I want to make sure that the subtitles are indeed helping the non-Spanish-speaking community understand the film.

I'm looking forward to showing the film to them and of course to you!
